The River Bank in Winter is a Wind in the Willows yarn advent calendar — 24 hand-dyed fingering weight mini skeins, 12 tonal and 12 variegated, opened one per day through December.

The kettle is on. The fire is lit. Along the river bank, Mole has set down his tools for the season and Ratty's boat is pulled up on the bank, rope coiled, oars put away. Badger has bolted his door against the frost of the Wild Wood, and even Toad, for once, is bundled indoors.

Join us this winter in the world of Wind in the Willows. There is nothing half so pleasant as a winter spent making.

Each morning from December 1, open one box to find a hand-dyed mini skein in a colorway drawn from the world Kenneth Grahame built: the cold silver of the river at night, the warm amber of Mole End by firelight, the deep teal of the Wild Wood in winter. Twenty-four colors, each one a day well spent.

Is this a preorder?

Yes. This is a limited preorder. Your order and payment secures your place, and your box ships in early November. We have a limited number of boxes due to the hand-dyed yarn and threads. Once sold out, this advent will not be restocked.

When does it ship?

All advent boxes ship in early November, so your parcel arrives well before December 1st. You'll receive tracking information once your box is on its way.

Does it come in an advent box? How is it packaged?

Yes, this year's box will be similar to our gorgeous Narnia themed advent box from 2025, with 24 daily boxes to open, all packaged within a beautiful and reusable Wind in the Willows themed box.

Does the price include shipping?

Yes, U.S. domestic shipping is included in the price. International shipping is calculated at checkout.

Can I cancel my order?

Because each advent is hand-dyed and custom-prepared to order, all sales are final. Please review your order carefully before checkout, as we're unable to accept cancellations or changes once your preorder is placed.

Does it contain anything Christmas-specific or religious?

No. While it follows the tradition of a daily December countdown, this advent is entirely themed to the world of Wind in the Willows. There are no Christmas or religious elements.

Can I add other items to my advent order?

No, please place a separate order for advent, and any additional items. The advent box ships as its own parcel to make sure it arrives safely and on time. It fills the box, and there is no space to add additional items.

If you are ordering two advent boxes, e.g. a yarn and a needlepoint advent, you can order them both at the same time in one order.

Are the yarn advent stitch markers suitable for crochet?

Yes, the stitch markers come on pins making them perfect for knit and crochet projects. You can also use them as a progress keeper, or even a project bag charm!

Does the yarn box include a pattern?

No pattern is included, but I've curated a collection of advent-friendly patterns on Ravelry to help you plan your December making.
